From 0 to 60,000 Followers: My Journey on LinkedIn
How I grew my LinkedIn using 3 powerful yet simple principles
As someone who has experienced incredible growth on LinkedIn, going from zero to nearly 60,000 followers, I'm here to share the three fundamental principles that played a pivotal role in my growth.
By embracing these principles, you too can enhance your LinkedIn presence and reap the rewards, it doesn’t matter if you are a founder, c-level, manager, investor, solopreneur, consultant, or whatever.
1. Consistent and Relevant Content Posting
One of the key principles that shaped my LinkedIn journey is the power of consistent and relevant content posting.
But here is the trick: It's not always about creating original content; what truly matters is sharing valuable information that resonates with your target audience.
That content should always help to position you inside your expertise area. You must be seen as an authority, even if you are just sharing a piece of news from your field.
By curating and posting insightful, informative, and industry-relevant content, you position yourself as a thought leader and attract like-minded professionals.
Again: You don’t need original content every single day.
The key here is consistency—posting every single day to maintain visibility and engagement. This practice not only helps build credibility but also expands your reach and influence on the platform.
2. Connecting with the Right People
Building the right connections is another crucial principle that greatly impacts LinkedIn growth.
This one was truly game-changer for me.
It's not about the quantity of connections; it's about the quality. Instead of blindly reaching out to everyone, focus on building a network of professionals who align with your goals, interests, and values.
Engage with like-minded individuals, participate in meaningful discussions, and share insights to foster a supportive community that appreciates your expertise.
These connections open doors to collaborations, mentorship opportunities, and new business ventures.
Over time, having a specific set of people as connections will start to pay off and bring compounding gains to your profile.
3. Optimizing Your Profile for Storytelling and Sales
Crafting a compelling personal brand narrative within your profile is essential for LinkedIn success, of course.
Establishing an emotional connection with your audience and differentiating yourself is key.
Share not just your professional achievements and skills, but also your personal values, passions, and unique experiences to stand out from the crowd.
Everything in your profile should communicate something and you should use each part of your profile as an opportunity to communicate your expertise, story, and how you can help people.
Time = Growth
Remember, building a significant following and reaping the rewards on LinkedIn takes time, effort, and patience.
Overnight success is rare. Yes, there are some outliers out there. But they are the 0.1% and we can’t rely on that. I’m not an outlier and I teach other people that are not outliers to grow on LinkedIn.
If I did, you can do it.
